Visa, Citi, and Cellulant Partner to Simplify Small Business Payments in Kenya

In a move aimed at boosting financial inclusion and enhancing cashless transactions, Visa, Citi Bank, and Cellulant have partnered to simplify and streamline payment solutions for small and medium-sized enterprises (SMEs) across Kenya. The collaboration is set to transform business operations by reducing cash dependency and providing digital payment solutions for small businesses.

Objective of the Partnership

The primary goal of this partnership is to empower small businesses in Kenya by:

  • Providing seamless payment solutions using Visa’s global payment infrastructure.
  • Enabling quick access to capital through Citi Bank’s financing solutions.
  • Offering mobile and digital payment platforms via Cellulant’s extensive payment ecosystem.

This joint initiative is expected to transform the payment experience for small businesses by reducing transaction costs, increasing financial access, and promoting digital payment adoption in the country.

Enhancing Payment Efficiency for Small Businesses

Many small businesses in Kenya face payment processing challenges, especially when dealing with large transactions or receiving payments from international clients. The new digital payment system facilitated by Visa, Citi, and Cellulant will provide a secure, fast, and affordable payment channel for small business owners.

“This partnership aligns with our mission of expanding financial inclusion and ensuring that small businesses can easily access secure and efficient payment solutions,” said Corine Mbiaketcha, Vice President and General Manager for Visa East Africa.
