Ruto Accuses ‘United’ Opposition Leaders of Power Hunger

President William Ruto on Friday launched a veiled attack on the newly formed political alliance around former Deputy President Rigathi Gachagua, accusing it of attempting to divide Kenyans along tribal lines.

Speaking during his visit to Taita Taveta County, where he inspected development projects, Ruto dismissed the opposition leaders’ unity as a scheme driven purely by a hunger for power rather than the interests of Kenyans.

The President alleged that the group’s primary agenda was to spread misinformation about his administration and strategize on how to unseat him in the 2027 elections, rather than offering tangible solutions for the country.

He criticized the opposition for engaging in what he termed as “political conmanship,” accusing them of using rhetoric to create divisions and undermine the government’s development initiatives.

During his tour, Ruto also inaugurated several projects and pledged development initiatives aimed at benefiting the local community.
