Post-Mortem on Murdered Businessman ‘Inconclusive’

A post-mortem examination on the body of Scottish businessman Campbell Scott, who was found dead in Kenya, has failed to determine the cause of death, reports have stated.

Scott’s body was discovered inside a sack of pineapples by a cattle herder in Makongo Forest, located approximately 60 miles (96.5 km) from Nairobi. His body was found several days after he went missing from his hotel on 17 February.

The 58-year-old, who had been bound with rope around his hands and legs, was reported missing after attending a conference in Nairobi. The Kenyan homicide unit has classified the case as murder, and two individuals have been arrested in connection with the case.

Despite the discovery of injuries on Scott’s body, local reports suggest they were “too minor” to have been fatal. Kenyan government pathologist Johansen Odour confirmed that the post-mortem examination was inconclusive.

Dr. Odour stated that Scott suffered a “head injury and multiple soft tissue injuries…blunt trauma.” However, he clarified that the injuries were not severe enough to be considered the cause of death. As a result, investigators have collected samples for further testing, including toxicology screenings, to determine the exact cause of death.

Scott was reportedly seen at a nightclub in Nairobi after arriving in the city, where he met with an unidentified man. Police are treating this man as a suspect. A taxi driver and a waiter from the nightclub have been taken into custody, and they helped lead investigators to a house in Nairobi’s Pipeline district, where the suspect is believed to have taken Scott.

Scott, originally from Dunfermline in Fife, was a senior director at the credit scoring company Fico and had been attending a conference at the JW Marriott Hotel in Nairobi. He was scheduled to meet colleagues for a presentation the day after he disappeared but never returned to the hotel.

His body was found on Saturday in Makongo Forest, days after his colleagues filed a police report upon failing to contact him.
