Pastor Ng’ang’a Sparks Controversy by Removing Elderly Woman from Night Prayer Service

Pastor James Ng’ang’a, known for his outspoken and controversial style, has once again stirred public debate after ejecting an elderly woman from a night prayer service (kesha) at his church. The preacher claimed that he had given strict instructions to bar both children and elderly congregants from attending overnight prayers.

Viral Video Sparks Debate

In a video that has gone viral on social media, Pastor Ng’ang’a is seen questioning his security team for allowing the elderly woman into the kesha service. Expressing his displeasure, he harshly reprimanded the church security, asking how the woman had gained entry despite his orders.

He further stated that the woman had attended the Sunday service the previous day and should not have returned for the overnight prayers. He then ordered her to leave, instructing her to sleep in another room instead of participating in the kesha.

Backlash and Mixed Reactions

Ng’ang’a’s remarks have drawn sharp criticism and mixed reactions from the public. Some have defended his stance, arguing that overnight prayers may be too demanding for the elderly. Others, however, have strongly condemned his actions, calling them disrespectful and discriminatory against senior citizens.

His reference to the Shakahola tragedy—a cult incident that led to the deaths of hundreds of people—has also added to the controversy, with many questioning the appropriateness of his comparison.
