Kenyan rapper and youth advocate Henry Ohanga, popularly known as Octopizzo, has renewed his call for ethical and accountable leadership after attending the Friends of Maraga VIP Dinner on Saturday, November 22, 2025.

The event, hosted by former Chief Justice David Maraga, brought together a select group of emerging leaders and young aspirants pushing for change in Kenya’s political landscape.

Octopizzo said Maraga’s appeal for national renewal deeply resonated with his own long-standing advocacy for dignity, justice, and equitable development.

In a statement shared on X on Sunday, November 23, 2025, the award-winning artist wrote:
“It was an honour joining Emeritus Chief Justice @dkmaraga at the Friends of Maraga VIP Dinner. His call to reset, restore, and rebuild with dignity aligns with the values our communities deserve.”

Call for Youth to Lead With Integrity

Octopizzo described the dinner as energising and reflective, noting that conversations centred on accountability, ethical leadership, and the duty to uplift marginalised communities.

He emphasised that Kenya’s next generation of leaders must prioritise service over showmanship.

“Leadership is the art of listening deeply so decisions reflect the voices and hopes of the people,” he remarked, adding that the youth must embrace leadership grounded in empathy, integrity, and public service.

Maraga Outlines His Reform Agenda

During the dinner, Maraga presented his renewal-focused agenda, framing it around rebuilding national capacity and rejecting overreliance on labour export.

His proposed priorities include:

  • Reducing the cost of politics
  • Capping annual debt service at KSh 600 billion
  • Cancelling fraudulent or dormant contracts
  • Freezing non-essential borrowing

Maraga said his mission is to redirect wasted or mismanaged funds toward essential public services, arguing that fiscal discipline is vital to restoring macroeconomic stability.

“We must deploy previously wasted resources to serve Kenyans and reverse the crowding-out effects of current policies,” he stated.

Octopizzo concluded that Kenya’s youth now have a unique opportunity to “reset, restore, and rebuild” the country by championing ethical governance and people-centred leadership.
