The National Police Service (NPS) has confirmed that the nationwide recruitment of 10,000 police constables will take place on Monday, November 17, 2025. The one-day exercise will run from 8 am to 5 pm across all 427 recruitment centres in Kenya.
In a statement released on Friday, NPS spokesperson Muchiri Nyaga reaffirmed that the recruitment will proceed as scheduled. He urged qualified Kenyan youth to turn up and take part in the process.
“On 31st October 2025, the National Police Service placed an advertisement in all major newspapers announcing the recruitment of suitably qualified youths to be trained as police constables. The recruitment is confirmed to proceed on Monday, 17th November 2025, from 8 am until 5 pm at all 427 recruitment centres,” the statement said.
Nyaga noted that successful applicants will join a new cohort expected to support the Service’s ongoing reform agenda and contribute to more professional, accountable, and people-centered policing.
NPS warns against corruption during recruitment
The statement also addressed concerns over integrity during previous recruitment exercises. The NPS warned that any form of bribery or corruption—whether giving or receiving—will lead to prosecution.
The Service reminded the public of its commitment to fairness, urging citizens to support its mission for a safer and more secure country.
Minimum qualifications for police applicants
In a separate announcement on November 4, NPS outlined the minimum qualifications for those seeking to participate in the recruitment. Applicants must:
- Be Kenyan citizens with a valid national ID
- Be between 18 and 28 years old
- Have a minimum KCSE grade of D+, including at least a D+ in English or Kiswahili
- Be physically and medically fit
- Meet height requirements: 5’8” for men and 5’3” for women
- Have no criminal record
- Female candidates must not be pregnant during recruitment or training
The Service also welcomed National Youth Service (NYS) graduates who meet the criteria.
Candidates were advised to download and complete the prescribed application forms before presenting themselves at the recruitment centres.
The NPS emphasized that the process is free and open to all eligible applicants, warning that providing false information or engaging in corrupt practices is a criminal offence that will attract legal action.
