Kaytwa Fires Warning as Kabras Clash with KCB

Kabras Sugar RFC and KCB RFC are set to reignite their intense rivalry this Saturday in the Enterprise Cup semi-finals in Kakamega. With years of dominance over their opponents, Kabras head coach Carlos Kaytwa insists there is no room for complacency as they aim to extend their winning streak against the bankers.

The sugar millers have held the upper hand over KCB, securing both the Enterprise Cup and Kenya Cup titles in recent seasons. Their latest triumph, a 25-17 victory last Saturday, saw them complete the 2024-2025 Kenya Cup season unbeaten at the Kakamega Showground.

Focused Preparations for a Fierce Battle

Kaytwa acknowledges KCB’s relentless pursuit to break Kabras’ dominance but remains confident in his squad’s ability to deliver another victory.

“We are fine-tuning a few areas like set pieces and scrums, where we didn’t click well. By the time we step onto the field, I believe every department will be ready,” Kaytwa stated.

Meanwhile, the other Enterprise Cup semi-final will see Menengai Oilers face Nondescripts at the Nakuru ASK Showground on the same day.

Teamwork: The Secret Behind Kabras’ Success

Kaytwa attributes Kabras’ consistency and dominance to teamwork, discipline, and hard work.

“We played for our fans. We understand how much our victories mean to them, but beyond that, our success is built on unity and determination,” he added.

The coach also issued a warning to their rivals, affirming that Kabras is eyeing yet another domestic double, with a record fourth consecutive Kenya Cup title firmly within their sights.

“The season has been good, but it can be even better if structures are improved. The top teams thrive due to financial muscle, while others struggle with squad depth when injuries hit. However, we are prepared to fight for another double.”

With tensions high and history favoring Kabras, all eyes will be on Kakamega this Saturday to see if KCB can finally turn the tide or if Kabras will continue their reign.
