Former Deputy President Rigathi Gachagua has fired a fresh salvo at President William Ruto, urging him to stop lamenting about the opposition’s relentless criticism and instead focus on fulfilling his campaign promises.
Speaking during a church service at the Gospel Confirmation Centre in Machakos, Gachagua, who was accompanied by six senators and several MPs, made it clear that the opposition would not relent in holding the government accountable.
Gachagua’s Message to Ruto: Focus on Governance
“Why waste time listening to us instead of working for Kenyans? We will continue to speak about the abductions, extra-judicial killings, the collapsed healthcare system, the fraudulent housing levy, and the economic hardships Kenyans are facing,” Gachagua declared. “Removing you is a necessary step in redeeming the country, so expect us to keep talking until that happens.”
The former DP made the remarks during his first visit to Machakos in three years. His return to the Ukambani region came after his previous controversial claim that the community’s 1.5 million votes were not politically significant. This time, however, he struck a different tone, acknowledging the importance of their support in unseating Ruto in 2027.
