A series of loud explosions were reported near Sharafi Goth in Karachi late Wednesday, intensifying concerns across Pakistan following an earlier blast in Lahore. The incidents come at a time of heightened tension between India and Pakistan following recent military action in the region.
According to local media outlets, residents reported hearing powerful blasts in Karachi’s eastern sector. Law enforcement officials confirmed the recovery of metal fragments from the site, but the exact nature and origin of the explosion remain under investigation. Police have not ruled out any possibilities, and bomb disposal squads along with rescue units have been deployed to secure the area.
Flight Operations Suspended in Major Pakistani Cities
In a related development, the Pakistan Airports Authority (PAA) has suspended flight operations at key airports in Karachi, Lahore, and Sialkot as a precautionary measure. As per Aaj News, flights at Lahore and Sialkot airports will remain halted until 12:00 PM (local time) on Thursday, disrupting both domestic and international travel schedules.
Passengers have been advised to directly contact their airlines for real-time updates regarding flight delays and rescheduling.
Explosions Follow Indian Precision Strikes
These developments follow India’s precision air strikes on terror infrastructure across Pakistan and Pakistan-occupied Jammu & Kashmir (PoJK), reportedly conducted in retaliation for the deadly Pahalgam terror attack, which left 26 dead and dozens injured.
Indian defense officials stated that the targets were carefully selected based on intelligence inputs and aimed at dismantling terror camps linked to the Pahalgam attackers.
Rising Regional Tensions
With back-to-back explosions reported in Lahore and now Karachi, panic has gripped residents in both cities. The Pakistani government has heightened security alerts nationwide, while intelligence agencies continue to monitor for further escalations.
Authorities in both countries have not issued formal diplomatic statements yet, but geopolitical experts warn that the situation remains volatile.
