Ex-Employee Accused of Sh254 Million Theft from Publisher

Cheekati Narasimha Rao, a former employee of Printing Services Limited, has been charged with the theft of Sh254,461,768 from the company. The case was presented at the Milimani Law Courts on February 26, 2025, before Principal Magistrate Caroline Nyaguthii. Rao, who appeared in court, denied the allegations.

According to the charge sheet, the theft took place between January 1, 2016, and August 31, 2024. It is alleged that Rao committed the offense at the company’s offices, in collaboration with other individuals who are yet to be apprehended.

Authorities continue to investigate the case, with prosecutors seeking to bring all involved parties to justice. Legal experts suggest that if found guilty, Rao could face severe penalties under Kenya’s penal code.

The prosecution has requested additional time to gather more evidence and track down other suspects involved in the multi-million-shilling fraud. The court has set a date for the next hearing, where further details will emerge.

This case has sparked widespread interest, particularly within the corporate sector, as it highlights the importance of internal financial controls to prevent fraud.
