Fourteen-year-old music prodigy Boluwatife Balogun, popularly known as Champz, has set a new continental record after becoming the youngest African artiste to surpass one million monthly listeners on Spotify.
The rising star currently commands about 1,004,060 monthly listeners, marking a major milestone in his fast-rising career.
Debut EP Sparks Rapid Global Breakthrough
Champz’s achievement comes just weeks after the release of his debut five-track EP, Champion’s Arrival, which dropped on 11 November 2025.
Blending rap, afro-swing, and Afrobeats, the project introduces a bold sound rarely associated with someone his age.
Within hours of release, Champion’s Arrival soared to No. 1 on the Apple Music Nigeria Top Albums chart, making Champz the youngest artiste ever to top the platform in Nigeria. The EP has also charted in 16 countries and climbed to No. 71 on the UK Apple Music Top Albums chart.
Talent Beyond Fame
Although Champz is the son of Afrobeats superstar Wizkid, fans and critics agree that his music reflects far more than inherited fame.
Listeners have praised his confidence, lyricism, and creative fusion of Afrobeats with youthful rap energy.
Notably, the EP features no guest artistes, placing full attention on Champz’s emerging signature style.
Family Pride and Fan Support
Champz’s mother, Oluwanishola Ogudu, celebrated the milestone online, expressing gratitude to fans:
“GOD BLESS EACH AND EVERYONE OF YOU! We are sooo grateful! THANK YOU!”
A viral video shared by TELL Magazine also captured Wizkid expressing pride in his son and teasing a possible father-son collaboration.
A Star on an Unstoppable Rise
With his record-breaking streaming numbers and growing global reach, Champz is quickly positioning himself as one of Africa’s most promising young stars.
Music lovers and industry watchers now eagerly anticipate his next moves—many predicting that he could reshape what success looks like for young African artists.
