Environment Cabinet Secretary Aden Duale has refuted claims that President William Ruto’s administration is involved in a recent surge of abductions and extrajudicial killings. Speaking at a press briefing, Duale maintained that Kenya Kwanza upholds the rule of law and does not condone such illegal acts.
Duale, a key ally of Ruto, acknowledged the dark history of enforced disappearances, particularly in Northeastern Kenya and the Coast, but insisted that the government is committed to ending the culture of state-backed executions. He emphasized that any individuals engaged in abductions are acting independently and not under government directives.
“I sympathize with families who have lost their loved ones. These actions are unacceptable in modern Kenya, and President Ruto has been clear—anyone with information should report to the DCI,” Duale stated.
The CS dismissed accusations tying the Kenya Kwanza administration to forced disappearances, urging security agencies to investigate and take action against rogue operatives within their ranks.
The remarks come amid growing concerns from human rights activists and opposition leaders over reports of missing persons, with some linking the disappearances to state security organs.
Duale reassured Kenyans that the government remains steadfast in upholding human rights, warning that any officer found engaging in abductions would be held accountable.
