The Ministry of Health has directed Nairobi County to address the garbage problem outside Stima Plaza, citing significant health hazards. Public Health Principal Secretary Mary Muthoni visited the area and ordered immediate cleaning and sanitization to restore normalcy, noting that the garbage issue was affecting local businesses not involved in the ongoing dispute between Kenya Power and the County over unpaid bills. An investigation has also been requested into the incident that caused sewage blockage at Kenya Power’s branch offices.

Public Health Principal Secretary Mary Muthoni emphasized the need for the County to clean and sanitize the area surrounding Stima Plaza to restore normal operations.
Muthoni pointed out that the garbage situation was adversely affecting other nearby businesses that were not involved in the ongoing dispute.
In addition, she has called for an investigation into the incident that resulted in the blockage of sewage at the Kenya Power branch offices and the subsequent dumping of garbage at the entrance of their headquarters.
Muthoni’s visit came in the wake of a standoff between Kenya Power and Nairobi County over unpaid bills.
