DCI Volleyball Queens have announced their title intentions early after cruising through the opening weekend of the Kenya Volleyball Federation (KVF) Women’s League with three emphatic victories at the Nyayo Indoor Arena.

The detectives were in imperious form, dispatching Nairobi Prisons, Kenyatta University and Young Spykers without dropping a set to register a flawless start to the new season.

Their campaign began on Friday, December 12, 2025, with a dominant straight-sets win over Nairobi Prisons. Mercy Iminza and Sarah Namisi dictated the tempo, combining solid defence with clinical finishing as DCI sealed the match 25-10, 25-14 and 25-19.

The fixture also marked the return of left attacker Jemimah Siang’u and opposite hitter Marion Indeche, who made their competitive comebacks after maternity leave. Both players settled in quickly, delivering crucial points that further strengthened DCI’s attacking depth.

Back-to-back dominant displays

DCI carried the same intensity into Saturday’s clash against league newcomers Kenyatta University, sweeping aside the students 25-7, 25-8 and 25-8 in one of the most one-sided encounters of the weekend.

On Sunday, Young Spykers also found the champions too strong, falling 25-11, 25-14 and 25-12 as DCI completed a clean sweep of their opening fixtures. Captain Jane Mumbua led by example throughout the weekend, providing stability and leadership as her side closed out matches with authority.

Early table leaders

After finishing second last season, DCI Volleyball Queens now sit top of the KVF Women’s League standings with a maximum nine points from three matches.

With confidence high, head coach Patrick Sang will shift focus to the Kipchumba Karori International Volleyball Tournament, scheduled for December 19 to 21 in Eldoret, where the Queens will look to build on their strong early-season momentum.
