A tragic Kenya plane crash has killed 11 people, including 10 foreign nationals, while they were traveling to the Maasai Mara National Park. The accident occurred early Tuesday morning in the Rift Valley region.

Plane En Route From Diani to Maasai Mara Crashes

According to Mombasa Air Safari, the small aircraft was flying from Diani, a popular tourist destination on Kenya’s coast, to Kichwa Tembo airstrip in the Maasai Mara. The plane went down around 5:30 a.m. local time (0230 GMT).

Mombasa Air Safari chairman John Cleave confirmed the fatalities, saying there were eight Hungarians, two Germans, and a Kenyan pilot on board.

“Sadly, there are no survivors,” Cleave said. “Our emergency response team has been activated, and we are cooperating with local authorities.”

Authorities Investigate Cause of the Crash

The Kenya Civil Aviation Authority (KCAA) initially reported that 12 people might have been on board. However, the airline later confirmed 11 fatalities. KCAA stated that government agencies were already at the site to begin investigations into the cause of the crash.

Mombasa Air Safari extended condolences to the victims’ families, saying, “Our hearts and prayers are with all those affected by this tragic event.”
